Patrick Mullen

Patrick Mullen is Managing Director of the Sorenson Impact Center.  Prior to the creation of the Center, Mr. Mullen was a Principal with University Impact Fund (UIF).  Launched in 2010, UIF was an industry-leading program that facilitates the growth of the impact investing space.

Prior to the creation of UIF, Mr. Mullen served as a Senior Associate with the University Venture Fund (UVF), an $18.2M student-run venture capital firm investing across a variety of deal stages and industries.  At UVF, he led over 15 projects and deals in multiple industries including consumer products, enterprise software, medical devices, microfinance and alternative energy. Additionally, Mr. Mullen served as Portfolio Liaison to a variety of UVF Portfolio companies, including Handiquilter, a Utah-based manufacturing company that was acquired by a financial buyer in 2008.  As a Senior Associate, Mr. Mullen also worked to train new interns and Student Associates in an advisory role.

In addition to his time at UVF, Mr. Mullen also worked as an analyst with the Mountain West Capital Network, contributing to the 2009 Utah Deal Flow Report, a comprehensive analysis of all private placement, venture capital, and private equity transactions in the state of Utah. Additionally, Mr. Mullen has spent extensive time in developing countries including India, China, and Tanzania where he worked with various NGO’s, village banking groups, and children’s organizations. experience includes working to develop the feasibility of microcredit offerings in remote parts of Central and Northern India.

Mr. Mullen graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Finance from Westminster College in Salt Lake City, UT.  At Westminster, he served as President and Founder of the undergraduate chapter of Net Impact at Westminster, a global organization to promote social and environmentally responsible entrepreneurship and enterprise.
