Lara Metcalf
Lara Metcalf is a Managing Director at Social Finance where she is responsible for developing and executing innovative financings that drive better life outcomes for people and communities in need. In this role Lara develops partnerships between diverse stakeholders such as institutional investors, philanthropy, CDFIs, and governments to drive capital towards effective social services providers. Lara has helped grow the team from 12 to 30+ people while also overseeing operational aspects of the firm.
Lara has deep experience in the public and private sectors, including 18 years on Wall Street at world-class financial institutions such as Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, and Morgan Stanley. Prior to joining Social Finance, Lara was the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer and Senior Associate Dean for Operations at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, where she oversaw the $140 million budget, and the Finance, HR, and Facilities Operations team, and helped launch a $100 million new building construction project. As a Managing Director at Credit Suisse, Lara structured complex transactions and served as a trusted advisor to her institutional clients. Prior to Credit Suisse, she was a Vice President in the Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities Division at Goldman Sachs. Lara began her career at Morgan Stanley in the Municipal Bond Department where she worked with investors and state and local issuers to structure and fund tax-exempt bonds.
Lara is a graduate of Boston College and earned her MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
