Mayor Eileen Weir
Eileen Weir was elected at the 50th Mayor of the City of Independence, MO in April, 2014. She served as the City’s 4 th District Councilwoman from 2012-2014.
Mayor Weir is a native of Binghamton, NY and earned her B.A. in English/Communications from LeMoyne College in Syracuse, NY. She began her career in Public and Media Relations in 1992 with the Kansas City Chiefs and is the owner of Impress Public Relations specializing in communications and media relations. From 2008-2012 Weir served as the Chiefs Charity Game coordinator for the Children’s Center for the Visually Impaired and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City.
Mayor Weir serves on the City of Independence Employee Advisory Committee, Transportation Policy Committee, Mayor’s Advisory Commission on the Visual Arts, Japanese Sister City Committee, Mayor’s Prayer Committee, and Independence Harry S Truman Award Commission. She serves on the Board of Directors for Blue Ridge Bank & Trust Co., Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, Missouri Municipal League, Little Blue Valley Sewer District, Mid America Regional Council, ArtsKC, Independence Economic Development Council, KC Rising Steering Committee, MARC Total Transportation Policy Committee, MARC Regional Transit Coordinating Committee, and Truman Heartland Community Foundation Gala Sponsorship Committee. She is a member of the Eastern Jackson Betterment Council and Kansas City Metro Mayors Caucus.
